Competition Rules

The rules are here to insure fair play, It is the riders responsibility to make sure their ride complies with the following rules.

If you get a penalty the penalty is deemed to be fair, not to the rider getting the penalty but to the riders who send in correct rides. So it is in your interest to check your equipment before the ride and to check your ride in Analyzer after the ride. We hate disqualifying rides and giving penalties - it takes our time. But we feel that it has to be done for the sake of the riders who go through pain to go one or two seconds faster than their rivals.

  1. Weight The weight specified in the competitors profile must be their actual body weight plus an allowance of 8kg for the bicycle. A snapshot of the weight specified in the competitors profile at the time of registering for a specific Event is recorded along with registration details and cannot be changed even if a rider gains or loses weight during a competition they must ride at the registered weight. If a rider submits a ride with the incorrect weight entered in their ID they will receive a penalty of 5 seconds per kilometre, if the weight entered is in excess of 10 kgs the penalty will increase to 10 seconds per Kilometre.
  2. The Rider name recorded in a Ride uploaded for an Event Stage must match the Riders correct Name, no Nicknames will be allowed, if a ride is submitted with the wrong name in the profile it will be excluded. So if John Smith submitted a ride with J. Smith in the profile it would be rejected.
  3. Scale Factor Any scaling factor within VR Cycling software must be set to 100 or the equivalent of 100% realism, rides with any other setting will be rejected. For example in the I-Magic software from Tacx the Scale Factor has a range of 80 - 120, this can be set by going to System Options then choosing slope.
  4. Cadence If VR Cycling software in use for the Event supports recording of pedal cadence, this feature must be enabled. Rides without cadence data will be excluded if the software is known to support cadence recording. Periods of no cadence or cadence that is clearly wrong will invoke a void ride.
  5. Heart Rate If VR Cycling software in use for the Event supports recording of Heart Rate, this feature must be enabled and riders must use a heart rate monitor. Rides without H/R data will be rejected if the software is known to support heart rate recording. If analysis of a Ride identifies a heart graph where 15% or more is deemed irregular, the ride will be subjected to a penalty of 5 seconds per kilometre being added to their time.
  6. Flying Starts Riders must not begin riding before the software in use signals the formal start. If analysis of a Ride indicates a flying start the ride will be rejected. For example NetAthlon does not prevent the rider from pedalling before the countdown to start has finished. Any rider deemed to be moving away from the start at an un reasonable speed will have their ride excluded.
  7. Tampering If analysis of a Ride indicates any form of tampering with the file, the rider will be disqualified without refund of any fees paid
  8. Steering All riders must compete with the steering option turned off, this will prevent riders from Cutting corners and gaining an advantage where other riders are unable to draft in certain events.
  9. Stops If analysis of a Ride indicates the rider stopped or paused the software, when using the I-Magic (Green) software or the RLV Software the ride will be excluded. There can be no exceptions as the length of the stop cannot be determined in these programs.
  10. Upload Time A ride must be uploaded within 24 hours of completion or the ride will be excluded, also no rides can be uploaded after an events official closing time.
  11. Upload Limits There is no limit to the number of Rides that can be submitted for a Stage. (unless the event states differently) However only the last submitted ride will be considered for an Event round. IF your last ride submitted is slower than a previous ride that will be the ride that counts, even if  it gets a penalty or is classed as a void ride. If it fails the Automatic Validation check it carefully before deciding to upload it. It will probably fail a manual  check and get a penalty or be void. You may end up with a slower ride or worse a no ride for that round if you do not have tome to ride again.
  12. Drafting Unless otherwise specified for a specific Event, drafting is permitted in all Events, where this is supported by the VR Cycling software in use.
  13. Time. your time will be taken from your file automatically on your upload for all Tacx software events. NetAthlon you will look in the raw file opening it in Notepad you will see your time at the bottom of the file,
  14. File unreadable If the analysis of the ride could not be done because the the file uploaded contains missing or corrupt data, the ride will be excluded.
  15. Calibration Any calibration factor within VR Cycling software must be set to 0,0 Rides with any other setting will be rejected. For example in the Fortius software from Tacx the default setting for the calibration is 0,0 the units are shipped with this value already set, so there is no need to adjust the calibration before competing in any VCF event, Unless you have already adjusted it where you should go into the calibration section and press the reset tab. This will reset you calibration to 0,0 for League racing.
  16. Vacation Rides. If you are going on vacation or will know that you are going to be away for one of the rounds of the league email support with the round you will miss, and the leagues you wish to pre ride. Email Support and we will send you the files for the rounds. You may then submit your ride to support in an email, before the round starts, stating the round and date of the round and the time that you have done your ride. Include in the subject line your Name and Time, (one email for each ride). Include your file in the email. Only one file for each league will be accepted. (The first one you send in). It will be down to the rider to check their ride to make sure that it is correct, in all aspects. If when the file is uploaded to the table it is found to contravene the rules. The normal penalties will apply.. So check it carefully in analyser for weight, calibration, scale factor, heart rate, and cadence. No vacation rides will be accepted for that round once the round has started.
  17. Cooling Down The Cooling Down option must not be used. Using this option will cause your ride to fail the auto validation process.
